Awa

Awa is our flagship organic ceremonial matcha.

Produced by Nakai Organic Tea Garden in Wazuka, Kyoto, one of Japan’s pioneering organic tea producers since 1986, Awa is proof that organic matcha doesn’t have to sacrifice flavour.

Rich, silky, and naturally sweet, it delivers deep umami with almost no bitterness.

Only one harvest is released each year.

When this season is gone, it won’t return.

Why We Chose This Matcha

We tasted matcha from multiple producers before choosing Nakai Organic Tea Garden.

Their organic matcha stood out for one reason:

It simply tasted better.

Many organic matchas can be grassy or overly bitter.

Awa is different.

It is smooth, balanced, and full of character while remaining fully JAS Organic certified.

About Okumidori

Okumidori is prized for its rich umami, smooth body, and rounded sweetness.

Combined with more than 21 days of shading before harvest, it produces a vibrant green matcha with exceptional depth and very little bitterness.

Crafted the Traditional Way

Young tea leaves are harvested during the first flush, steamed immediately to preserve freshness, refined into tencha, then slowly stone-milled into an ultra-fine powder.

Only small batches are ground at a time to protect aroma, colour, and flavour.

Seasonal Release

Every harvest is different.

Just like wine, weather and growing conditions shape each year’s character.

We receive a limited allocation from Nakai Organic Tea Garden each season.

Once this harvest sells out, it is gone until next year.

Storage

Packed in an airtight, light-protective pouch to preserve freshness during transport.

For the best flavour, refrigerate after opening and keep sealed between uses.

Organic Certification

Certified under Japan’s JAS Organic standard.

This product is not certified under an Australian organic certification body.
