It describes the quiet feeling when everything slows down.
That peaceful moment inspired the name of this matcha.
Nagomi is selected for its bright, refreshing character. Smooth enough to enjoy every day, it offers a balanced cup with gentle bitterness, natural sweetness, and a clean finish that keeps you coming back for another bowl.
From Nakai Organic Tea Garden
Every Ujiha matcha comes from Nakai Organic Tea Garden in Wazuka, Kyoto.
After tasting matcha from multiple producers over the years, we chose to build Ujiha around one farm that consistently produced exceptional harvests.
Nakai has specialised in organic tea cultivation since 1986.
Organic matcha is sometimes thought to be less vibrant or more bitter.
Our experience was different.
When organic tea is grown, harvested and processed with care, it can be every bit as rich, sweet and expressive as conventional matcha.
That’s why we chose this farm.

Compared with Awa, it is brighter and slightly more energetic, with a gentle bitterness that gives structure before finishing clean.
Expect notes of:
• Fresh green aroma
• Light vegetal sweetness
• Gentle bitterness
• Refreshing finish
It is the matcha we recommend for an everyday ritual.
Packaging
Nagomi is packed as a 40g refill pouch.
You may also choose our reusable washi-wrapped tea can, inspired by traditional Japanese paper patterns.
Designed to reduce exposure to light, air and moisture, it helps keep your matcha fresher after opening.
Brewing Guide
- 1 gram (approximately 1 teaspoon)
- 70–80 ml water
- Around 80°C
Whisk for around 15–20 seconds until a fine foam forms.
A good foam softens bitterness while bringing forward the tea’s natural sweetness and umami.
Seasonal Release
Like wine, every harvest develops its own character.
Nagomi is imported in limited seasonal quantities from Nakai Organic Tea Garden.
When this year’s harvest sells out, it won’t return.
The Ujiha Matcha Selection
Nagomi and Awa come From Nakai Organic Tea Garden.
The difference between them comes from leaf selection during harvest.
| Matcha | Character | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Nagomi | Bright, refreshing, gentle bitterness | Everyday matcha |
| Awa | Smooth, naturally sweet, deeper umami | Pure matcha drinking |
| Kotobuki | Exceptionally refined, rare lots | Connoisseurs |
Many customers start with Nagomi, then move to Awa once they experience the deeper sweetness and umami.
