A premium matcha made by Uejima Sourokuen in Wazuka, Kyoto.
Flower sits at the higher end of Uejima Sourokuen’s matcha range. It is made for those who want to enjoy matcha on its own, where its aroma, colour and flavour can be fully appreciated.
It can be prepared as usucha for a lighter bowl, or as koicha for a thick and concentrated matcha experience.
Made in Wazuka, Kyoto
Wazuka is one of the most important tea-growing areas within the Uji tea region. Tea has been grown here for centuries, with the area’s hills and climate helping shape its long tea-growing tradition.
Uejima Sourokuen’s family has been growing tea in Wazuka since the Edo period. Today, the estate is led by fifth-generation tea farmer and tea master Noriyasu Uejima.
Noriyasu Uejima is known for his skill in growing and evaluating Japanese tea. He achieved a perfect score at Kyoto’s historic tea tasting competition, a rare achievement in the competition’s long history.
His teas have also been served at The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto.
Made to be enjoyed as matcha
Flower is a matcha worth drinking slowly and without milk.
Prepare it as usucha to enjoy its aroma and flavour in a lighter bowl, or use it for koicha, where more matcha and less water create a much thicker and more concentrated tea.
Koicha leaves very little room for bitterness or harshness, which is why it is normally prepared with higher-quality matcha.
